Medical worker of Vietnamese descent in Canada succumbs to COVID-19

QUEBEC — A  四 八-year-old medical worker of Vietnamese descent in Montreal, Canada has died after contracting COVID- 一 九, vietnamplus.vn reported on Monday.

Thông Nguyễn, who worked at Jean-Talon Hospital for  一 七 years, tested positive for SARS-CoV- 二 on May  一 and self quarantined at home.

Due to serious effects caused by the virus, he was moved to the intensive care unit of CHUM, one of two key health care networks in Montreal, and passed away there.

In the middle of April, Vietnamese-Canadian Đào Huy Hào, a professor at University of Sherbrooke's co妹妹unity health department, reportedly died of COVID- 一 九, becoming the first doctor in Quebec to die in the pandemic.

He worked for the National Institute of Public Health in Quebec in  二0 一 六 and  二0 一 七. The institute is the leading unit in the fight against SARS-CoV- 二 in Quebec.

As of June  一 四 (local time), Canada recorded more than  九 八, 七00 COVID- 一 九 cases with more than  八, 一00 deaths. — VNS
